Lantmännen Unibake Norway commits to reduce food waste
In Norway 355,000 tonnes of food is wasted every year. Lantmännen Unibake Norway has committed to make an effort to reach the government’s goal of halving food waste by 2030.
Aina Hagen, Marketing and Innovation Director of Lantmännen Unibake Norway, and Ola Elvestuen, Minister of Climate and Environment, signed the agreement March 15th 2018.
– Food waste is a waste of resources. We look forward to work in accordance with the agreement and contribute to our common commitment in order to reduce food waste, says Aina Hagen.
Through the agreement, we commit to deliver statistics on current food waste from our production, and to report this. We will take concrete action throughout our value chain to reduce food waste in our business. We will also take actions that can help consumers waste less food.
We have worked a long time on reducing food waste. This agreement gives us an extra boost to reach our goals. We appreciate the government’s initiative and especially the large group of other Norwegian suppliers who have signed this agreement.
