Battling climate change is not a solo endeavor but a team affair. It requires understanding, collaboration, and a little bit of pressure to push the agenda forward and create results. By 2030, Lantmännen Unibake has committed to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from our assets and services by 30%.

When we invest in new equipment such as ovens, freezers, and robots at our bakeries, the carbon footprint of those investments plays a big part in our decision-making process. In all honesty, it has not always been like that. In the past, other factors like building a good business case or focusing on the quality of the materials dominated discussions. It is still important for us to make economically smart investments, but the environmental impact of new equipment must always be aligned with our overall sustainability strategy. That is also why we are working with preferred partners who share our climate values. And we are furthermore encouraging our suppliers to ask their suppliers the same questions as we ask them: Which parts of your business have the biggest climate impact? How are your materials and products sourced? How are they transported? And so on.

Similarly, it is also on our climate agenda to scrutinize our purchases of services like IT, maintenance, and cleaning. It is becoming increasingly important that we not only get the right quality of a service but that we also take responsibility for how those services are delivered.
